June 2021. Marta quits her corporate job and starts to think about what to do next.
Soon, the seeds of herbal joy would be planted.
The idea behind it was simple: to create a combination of plants and flowers that could replace industrial cigarettes, but still taste and feel good.
At the same time, to create a new habit out of it: it is easy to smoke a cigarette after a cigarette without much intention.
The difficult part is to stop, analyse the cigarette break, find the intention behind it.
Ask ourselves, why am I smoking.
What do I wish to take from this moment?
Smoking often provides an instant excuse to go outside and inhale some smoke (aka decompress, soothe and relax).
In fact, smoking rituals are one of the oldest forms of opening the human field to receive messages and visions, often part of bigger and more complex rituals. Smoking was somehow intentional, part of a process, a tool to favour the connection with something higher.
Once the original purpose was lost in time, it became a habit, something we do out of guilt or pleasure. Things are no longer clear, simple, purposeful. Our relationship with tobacco and cigarettes is pretty much doomed, thanks to major industries, corporations and their peculiar interests.
The intention with this product was to rebrand smoking and remake this narrative, bringing attention and intention to an habit.
Although the herbal blends were primarily made to be smoked, the basic combination is versatile and flexible. The herbal blends could not only be smoked but drinked as a herbal infusion, used in baths and water rituals, and be burned to clean the air.
At the same time, the idea was to bring attention and intention into the present moment, adding magic in things we do automatically every day.
To bring rituals back into the small things.
To bring awareness back into the altar of everyday life.
Like smoking a cigarette, taking a bath or drinking a cup of tea.
Plants and frequencies
There were 4 original combinations: Garden of Freedom, Flower Love, Clear Mind and Sweet Awakening. Each one had a combination of flowers and herbs that promoted a certain state of mind, focusing on basic emotions and sensations that we felt relevant for everyone: freedom and confidence, love, peace and inner knowing.
To each blend, we attributed a frequency - a specific hertz that would amplify and make the experience more coherent. That is how the EP Hertz from the Heart was created… and eventually gained a life of its own. We wanted to transform everyday habits into rituals, and music has the incredible capacity of elevating our mood and taking us to the mental space where we want to be.
All ingredients included on the blends (except blue lotus) were from organic farming and produced in Portugal. The blend was also manually prepared and each ingredient carefully treated to promote the smoothest smoking experience.
